In a surprise appearance on the Long Walk in Windsor, Kate, the new Princess of Wales, along with Prince William, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, paid a visit to Windsor Castle to observe the tributes and meet well-wishers.
Among the crowd was Bernita Ranno, 28, who overheard Kate sharing a touching moment with children nearby, revealing what her youngest son, Louis, had said about the Queen’s death.
The Queen passed away on Thursday at the age of 96.
According to Ms. Ranno, Kate became emotional as she recounted Louis’ words to the children.
The four-year-old prince expressed, “At least Granny is with great-grandpa now.”
Louis is one of the Queen and the late Prince Philip’s 12 great-grandchildren.
Earlier this summer, he was photographed alongside his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the late monarch’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
In a statement from Louis’ father, Prince William, he shared that his three children had the opportunity to spend holidays with the Queen, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
This statement came after an unexpected reconciliation between William, Harry, Kate, and Meghan, as they joined together to pay their respects to the Queen by viewing the flowers and cards left by members of the public.
They also took the time to engage with well-wishers.
A royal source revealed that William personally invited his brother and sister-in-law to join him on the walkabout, as both couples were staying in Windsor.
This appearance also marked the first public sighting of William and Kate since the new King Charles bestowed upon them their new titles of Prince and Princess of Wales in his address to the nation the previous day.
Additionally, it was the first time the two couples had been seen together since the Commonwealth Day service in early 2020, which turned out to be the Sussexes’ final engagement before stepping back from their royal duties.
Over time, there have been numerous reports of a rift between the brothers, with Meghan accusing Kate of making her cry during her interview with Oprah Winfrey, and Harry expressing that his brother is trapped.
However, their united front during this event suggests a temporary reconciliation.
Earlier today, William attended the Accession Council, where his father, Charles, was officially proclaimed the monarch in a poignant and solemn ceremony.
Alongside the new Queen Consort, Camilla, and over 200 privy councillors, including six former Prime Ministers, William witnessed the King pledging himself to the task at hand and the weighty responsibilities that come with sovereignty.
Meanwhile, at Balmoral, other members of the Queen’s family visited the estate in the Scottish Highlands, where she passed away on Thursday.
