In a significant move, Charles has appointed his daughter-in-law as the Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards.
This is a fitting recognition for Kate, who has been actively involved with the regiment on St. Patrick’s Day since her marriage to William in 2011.
Every year, during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, Kate dons a ceremonial green attire and pays tribute to the Irish Guards.
She often stands alongside the well-known Irish wolf mascot, affectionately known as Seamus (officially named Turlock Moor).
The festivities typically include a traditional toast with Guinness.
Initially, Queen Elizabeth bestowed this title upon William in 2011, just two months before he tied the knot with Kate.
We can only imagine the playful banter between the couple regarding this change.
However, Kate is not the only one with a new nickname.
In a recent speech following Queen Elizabeth’s passing in September 2022, Charles appointed his son as the new Colonel of the Welsh Guards.
This appointment is significant as William holds the title of Prince of Wales.
Additionally, Charles has bestowed his wife, Camilla, with a glamorous new title – Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.
This honor was previously held by Prince Andrew but was removed by Queen Elizabeth.
Moving on to other news from Buckingham Palace, this Christmas will be the Royal Family’s first without Queen Elizabeth.
While they will dearly miss their late matriarch, the family plans to come together and revive an age-old Christmas tradition that has been put on hold for the past two years due to the pandemic, as reported by People.
As they have done for many years, the British Royal Family will gather at Sandringham, exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, and attend church together on Christmas morning.
The attendees are expected to include Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, and their three children – George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Other family members, such as Charles’ siblings and their families, are likely to join in the festivities.
However, Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children are not expected to be in attendance.
In a recent announcement, it was revealed that the first public celebration of the King’s birthday, known as Trooping the Colour, will take place on June 17, 2023.
This event will occur six weeks after his coronation, which is scheduled for May 6.
Although the King’s actual birthday falls in November, he has chosen to celebrate in the summer, following the tradition set by his late mother.
