Buckingham Palace has unveiled a series of new official photographs from King Charles III’s coronation, which took place on Saturday.
These snapshots were captured just hours after the 74-year-old monarch’s service at Westminster Abbey and feature various working members of the royal family.
Notably absent from any of the official images is Prince Harry.
Reports suggest that Harry missed the photo session as he promptly returned to California shortly after the coronation.
However, a source close to the royal aide revealed today that Prince Harry did, in fact, arrive at Buckingham Palace after the ceremony at the Abbey had concluded.
He patiently waited outside the throne room, located just a three-minute drive away from Westminster Abbey.
According to the source, the Duke of Sussex was hoping to be included in the official photograph alongside his family, despite not having a role on the balcony.
He believed that the picture would be taken with family members, similar to the waxwork picture released before the coronation, where Harry was present with the royal family, excluding Meghan.
Prince Harry waited outside the throne room for approximately 30 minutes before eventually leaving to head to the airport.
Palace staff explained to him that only working members of the royal family were eligible to be photographed.
The absence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as they are officially titled, from the portrait is a result of the fallout from Megxit and subsequent events, which have rendered them both persona non grata within the royal family and the nation.
It is undoubtedly a bitter pill to swallow for Meghan, who must now contend with the reality of not being included in any official photos from her own father-in-law’s coronation.
The missed opportunity for both Meghan and Harry to don royal robes and stand alongside the rest of the family is surely a source of great frustration.
In the group shot, King Charles and Camilla take center stage, with Princess Anne and her husband, Timothy Lawrence, standing beside the King.
Notably absent from the portrait is Prince Andrew, as Anne has seemingly taken his place, not officially or legally, but in terms of optics and emotions.
The Duke and Duchess of Kent, the Duchess of Gloucester, and the Queen’s son, Prince Edward, also feature in the photograph.
On the other side, standing beside the Queen, are Prince William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
They are followed by Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Alexandra, and Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh.
This group photo sends a clear message about the new reign, with a strong emphasis placed on the working members of the royal family.
It also offers the public a first glimpse at the stunning dresses worn by Kate and Sophie, which were hidden beneath their robes on the day of the coronation.
King Charles and Camilla surprised royal enthusiasts by releasing four official portraits from the coronation.
These striking images showcase the newly crowned monarch in full regalia, standing alongside his beloved wife.
Additionally, there are two individual portraits of the couple and a final picture featuring the senior working royals.
Accompanying the release of these new images, King Charles and Queen Camilla expressed their gratitude to the British public for their support and kindness, considering it the greatest gift of the coronation.
