Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the young royals of the Cambridge family, will bid farewell to their school friends and teachers as they prepare to join a new school in Windsor this September.
The family will be relocating from London, leaving behind their favorite local eateries and familiar surroundings.
One such place that holds fond memories for the Cambridge family is Gale’s Bakery in Battersea, located right next to Thomas’s School.
In a recent interview with My London, Dominika Lipiec, a customer assistant at Gale’s Bakery, shared her recollections of interactions with the Cambridges.
She recounted how a parent from the school once visited the bakery, brimming with excitement that their child was in the same class as Prince George.
On multiple occasions, Kate Middleton herself was spotted at the bakery, often accompanied by George and occasionally by Charlotte.
According to the bakery staff, Kate’s go-to treat was the chocolate brownie finger, priced at £2.40, which was a popular choice among parents during after-school pick-up time.
Gale’s Bakery, which first opened its doors on London’s Hampstead High Street in 2005, has since expanded to include 79 branches across neighborhoods in London, Oxford, and Brighton.
They are known for their freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes made by hand every day.
The Battersea Square branch, which served the Cambridges, has received mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, with three stars out of five.
While some customers praise the staff, others criticize the high prices, with one review even calling it “daylight robbery” for charging £3 for a spoonful of avocado.
Prince George initially joined the prestigious London school in 2017, followed by his sister Princess Charlotte in 2019.
However, their younger sibling, Prince Louis, never attended Thomas’s School, as he recently completed his final year at Wilcox Nursery School in Kensington.
With the family’s upcoming move to their new four-bedroom home, Adelaide Cottage, the three young royals will no longer frequent Gale’s Bakery.
Instead, they will be enrolled at Lamerick School, which is closer to their new residence in Windsor.
According to The Sun, Prince William will personally accompany his children each morning as they start their new journey at the private school in Berkshire.
Kensington Palace released a statement expressing gratitude to Thomas’s Battersea for providing a happy educational experience for George and Charlotte since 2017 and 2019 respectively.
The statement also mentioned the family’s satisfaction in finding a school for all three children that shares similar values and ethos with Thomas’s.
