In a surprise appearance, Prince George joined his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to watch the European Football Championship match between England and Germany.
The young royal, dressed in a smart suit and tie resembling his father’s attire, made his first-ever appearance at an England game at Wembley Stadium.
While his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, most likely stayed at home, it was a significant moment for George, who only steps into the spotlight on select occasions.
The eldest Cambridge sibling, named after the patron saint of England, witnessed the Three Lions’ triumph over Germany with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.
Following the triumphant game, the Duke and Duchess expressed their admiration for the team’s incredible performance on their official Twitter account.
Earlier in the evening, young George, an avid football enthusiast like his father, amused fans when he shyly mumbled during the singing of “God Save the Queen,” a song that holds significance for his great-grandmother.
George, who was spotted conversing with former footballer David Beckham during the event, wore a smart suit similar to his father’s, complemented by a pink and blue tie and a light blue shirt.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge showed her support for the England team by donning a vibrant red Zara blazer, paired with a white top.
At the beginning of the match, Prince George appeared impatient, eagerly awaiting the game to commence.
However, he seemed uncertain about joining the crowd in singing the national anthem, looking away while his parents participated.
It is possible that he felt a bit shy with all eyes on him.
This was not George’s first experience of live football.
In October 2019, he attended a match between Aston Villa and Norwich City with his father.
Additionally, for his fifth birthday picture that same year, the young prince was photographed wearing his Three Lions T-shirt, a beloved item of clothing, during the England Lionesses’ World Cup campaign.
George often showcases his passion for football by playing with a ball on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Prince George’s appearance at the England vs Germany match was a delightful surprise for fans and royal enthusiasts alike.
As he continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how the young prince’s love for football develops and whether he will continue to support the national team in future games.
