In the upcoming coronation of King Charles, Prince George will take center stage as part of the palace’s efforts to highlight the immediate line of succession, according to world expert Dr. Tessa Dunlop.
During an episode of the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential series, Dr. Dunlop discussed the roles that the wider royal family will play in the May event.
While working members of the royal family are expected to participate in the procession, the emphasis will be on King Charles, Prince William, and Prince George at Westminster Abbey.
The goal is to maintain a focus on the line of succession, with camera shots primarily featuring Charles, William, and George.
Dr. Dunlop also referenced the queen’s coronation in 1953, where the young heir, King Charles, was strategically placed between the queen mother and Princess Margaret to maximize his visibility.
Richard Eden, the diary editor, added that other working members of the royal family will have prominent roles in the procession to Westminster Abbey.
Although they won’t participate in the ceremony itself, there will be events throughout the country involving all working royals, ensuring that different parts of the UK feel included.
Additionally, the working royals will gather on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
King Charles aims to establish a streamlined and modern monarchy while preserving some of the grandeur that captivated the world during the queen’s lying in state and funeral ceremonies.
The historic coronation on May 6th will commence with the crowning of Camilla, followed by the Archbishop of Canterbury placing the St. Edward crown on Charles’ head, officially declaring him monarch.
The newly crowned king will then lead a procession to Buckingham Palace, where he will join his family members on the balcony to greet the crowd.
The following day, a concert at Windsor Castle will be broadcast worldwide, accompanied by numerous street parties in the afternoon.
This will be followed by a bank holiday on Monday, granting millions of people a day off work.
Amidst mounting speculation about Prince Harry and Meghan’s attendance, Dr. Dunlop’s comments shed light on Prince George’s role in the coronation.
Friends of the couple revealed that they are currently considering numerous variables that may impact their decision.
Harry wishes to stand by his father’s side on this significant day and hopes to mend his strained relationship with the royal family.
However, attending the coronation poses a complicated decision for the couple, as they risk being accused of snubbing the family if they choose not to attend, or facing criticism and labeling as hypocrites if they do attend.
The couple’s friends have stated that a formal invitation is required before a decision can be made.
Once the invitation arrives at their home in California, they will decide whether they will attend the historic event together or if Harry will attend alone.
It is also possible that neither of them will make an appearance.
If they do attend, their visit to the UK is expected to be brief.
A source close to the couple revealed that if Harry attends the coronation, he would like to have a meeting with the King and Prince William before returning to the US.
Despite the release of Harry’s explosive memoir, “Spare,” last month, the Sussexes are still expected to receive an invitation to the coronation on May 6th.
If they choose to travel from their home in Montecito, California, to Westminster Abbey for the event, they will participate as normal congregation members.
According to royal sources, some members of the royal family have been unsettled by claims in Harry’s book and his media campaign to promote it.
However, Harry has not yet discussed his attendance with the King or William.
With invitations set to be sent out soon, it remains uncertain whether the atmosphere will be conducive for Harry’s reconciliation with his family.
Those who wish to attend the coronation are expected to RSVP to the invitation by early April.
The news of Prince George’s prominent role in the ceremony has sparked speculation among viewers.
Will the Sussexes be invited at all?
And if they are, will George, Charlotte, and Louis steal the spotlight from them?
