Prince Harry and Meghan Markle captured the attention of the public when they attended the 2022 Ripple of Hope Awards gala in New York City on Tuesday, November 6th.
As they walked the red carpet, reporters bombarded them with questions, one of which stood out among the rest: “Harry, are you putting money before family?”
The estranged prince, holding his wife’s hand, brushed off the criticism, while another reporter asked if he was harming his family.
Harry simply laughed and ignored the question, responding, “So many questions.”
An attendee of the Ripple of Hope Awards, who also shared their experience on Reddit, revealed that Meghan’s reaction towards Prince Harry after the event was one of cold fury, away from the cameras.
According to this individual, the event in New York City was not particularly crowded, with only a few actual press members and some paid paparazzi present.
The observer overheard conversations between the paparazzi and someone who informed them about the entrance the couple would use, emphasizing that they did not want to be photographed leaving the event.
The Reddit user also mentioned interactions with members of the Sussex squad, one of whom proudly displayed a paystub from a shell company used by Harry and Meghan for payments.
Additionally, the observer noted the presence of a man named Noel Phillips, known for his pro-Sussex British media work.
Phillips claimed that during William and Kate’s visit to Jamaica, he broke a story about people disliking them.
However, when the late Queen directly contacted his boss, she instructed him to back off.
When Harry and Meghan finally arrived at the gala, they were approximately 50 minutes late.
The crowd’s response was mixed, with some cheering and others booing.
One person even called Harry a traitor and questioned the whereabouts of his Nazi uniform.
According to the Reddit user, King Charles III allegedly offered Harry a lump sum of money at the Queen’s funeral, giving him the choice to either leave overseas forever or return alone in 2023.
After the event, as Harry and Meghan were leaving, two girls wished them happy holidays.
The observer, positioned opposite them, noticed their interaction and described it as distant and unfamiliar.
Without knowing they were married, one might assume they had never met.
A video posted on Twitter by ITV journalist Fred Dimbleby captured the mixed response to their arrival, with a crowd of people filming them on their phones and some expressing excitement.
However, one individual angrily shouted questions about Harry’s alleged role in destroying the royal family, directing blame towards Meghan as well.
During the ceremony, the controversial couple received an award for their campaign against structural racism and their advocacy for mental health issues.
Once inside the prestigious awards venue, the Sussexes were free from the chaotic shouting and gave an interview discussing mental health.
Meghan took the opportunity to share her own experiences of feeling suicidal while trapped in her role as a working royal within Buckingham Palace.
This public appearance marked the first since the release of the explosive trailers for their upcoming Netflix documentary.
