Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were taken aback by the decision of King Charles to remove them from Frogmore Cottage, their home in the UK for several years.
The eviction came just hours after the Duke of Sussex’s memoir was published, leaving the couple feeling stunned and betrayed.
It was seen as a cruel punishment and a final blow from the monarch, who instead offered the property to his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew.
The process of eviction began on January 11th, merely 24 hours after the global release of the memoir titled “Spare,” which revealed never-before-known details about Harry’s upbringing and the family drama.
This move by the royals seems to indicate a desire to completely cut Harry and Meghan out of their lives, speculated Omid Scobie, a close ally of the couple.
Initially, Harry and Meghan were given only a few weeks to vacate the premises.
However, now they have been granted until after King Charles’ coronation, which is scheduled for early summer, according to an insider.
Scobie claimed that at least two members of the royal family were appalled by the eviction news, fueling rumors that this could mark the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK.
Speculation suggests that Princesses Beatrice and Eugene could be the upset royals, with the latter continuing to support Harry due to their strong bond.
On March 1st, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan confirmed that they had been asked to leave Frogmore Cottage.
They have until King Charles’ coronation to pack up their belongings, leaving them without a home in the UK.
It remains uncertain whether the couple plans to attend the lavish ceremony on May 6th.
Frogmore Cottage was a gift from the late Queen to the couple after their wedding in 2018.
Despite now residing in Montecito, the pair recently renewed the lease on the property.
The decision to evict them is seen as a measure to prevent them from using the royal cottage as a backdrop for their Netflix projects or exploiting it as a hotel while embarking on unofficial royal tours at the expense of taxpayers.
In essence, if Harry and Meghan wish to return to Britain in the future, they will have to do so on the terms set by the King.
They will either have to stay at another royal residence under the control of the King or Prince of Wales, or find alternative accommodation.
This eviction notice has undoubtedly strained relations, making it highly unlikely for the Markles to attend the coronation.
The embarrassment of demanding an apology and a secret meeting, only to be served with a public eviction notice, would be too much for their fragile egos to bear.
Moreover, without a place to host a party for their son Archie during the coronation weekend, their desire for celebration will go unfulfilled.
Considering their concerns about security, it is unlikely that they will be content staying at a public hotel like ordinary individuals.
Staying with Charles and Camilla after the fallout from the memoir seems equally improbable.
The eviction from Frogmore Cottage has left the couple in a precarious position, with their future visits to the UK subject to the King’s conditions rather than their own desires.
