Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, established their Actual Foundation in October 2020 with the aim of serving as both a non-profit charitable organization and a for-profit business for media entities like Artuel Audio and Actual Productions.
Since its formation after Megxit, the Artuel Foundation has successfully raised an impressive $13 million.
However, recent scrutiny by French newspaper Envoy Special has shed light on some concerning discrepancies.
Envoy Special conducted an analysis of the tax records of the Actual Foundation and published an article revealing their findings.
According to the couple’s latest financial report, they claimed to have raised $13 million in donation money.
However, upon closer inspection, it was discovered that only $2,250,000 had been distributed to various charities through 22 checks.
Another significant expense was $1 million for operating costs, leaving a staggering $9 million unspent.
This revelation raises the question of why the foundation is not utilizing all of its funds for the greater good, as promised.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time such a discrepancy has been observed with the couple’s foundations.
During their time as working members of the royal family, they were involved with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
In the annual report for 2019-2020, it was revealed that out of the £782,000 raised in donation money, only £705,000 was actually spent on charitable causes.
This means that a substantial 90% of the funds did not benefit anyone in need.
One notable donation received by the Actual Foundation was a generous $10 million from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF), given by an anonymous donor.
The SVCF, a non-profit organization based in Mountain View, California, reported granting a record-breaking $2.7 billion to nearly 6,000 non-profit organizations in 2021.
Additionally, the Actual Foundation received $3 million from another unidentified donor and $4,470 from public donations.
According to the couple’s tax returns, they claim to dedicate just one hour per week to the charitable activities of their foundation.
However, it is important to note that this reporting is standard for such tax forms.
In 2021, the first full year of operation, the Actual Foundation spent $163,085 on salaries.
The chief executive, James Holt, worked one hour a week and received a salary of $59,846, along with $3,832 in other benefits.
Program service wages accounted for $40,867, while management and general expenses amounted to $22,811.
Other expenses for 2021 totaled $727,666,427, including $110,000 for legal fees, approximately $69,000 for conferences and meetings, and $12,000 allocated for travel.
In total, the charity’s expenses for 2021 amounted to $3,987,070.
The majority of these funds, over $3 million, were distributed through grants to 40 organizations, including those focused on vaccine equity relief centers and refugee resettlement.
The remaining expenses covered recompensation, benefits, taxes, legal fees, events, and travel, totaling around $369,925.
Since stepping down from their royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly only worked one hour a week at their Actual Foundation in 2021.
Given their strong commitment to humanitarian efforts since relocating to the United States, it is inevitable that questions will arise regarding how they have been utilizing their time.
According to a 2021 tax filing report, the couple claimed to have dedicated 52 hours in total throughout the year, yet still managed to raise $13 million from wealthy donors who support their cause.
Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41, stated in their filing that the core purpose of the Actual Foundation, known as Archul, is to uplift and unite communities, both locally and globally.
