Reports have surfaced claiming that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie Harrison and little bit Diana, have not been invited to the coronation ceremony scheduled for May 6th.
This news comes as another blow to the Duke and Duchess, who confirmed last week that they themselves had been invited to the ceremony, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
While Buckingham Palace did not mention anything about the children being invited to the ceremony in their correspondence, it is worth noting that the service is just eight weeks away, and Harry and Meghan have allegedly received no guidance on whether their children will be allowed to attend.
Sources suggest that Archie and little bit are still very young and might struggle with such a formal event.
In contrast, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are expected to participate in the service, along with Camilla, the Queen Consort’s five grandchildren.
The decision of whether to bring Prince Louis, who will be turning five next month, is still under consideration by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
It is possible that Harry and Meghan themselves may choose not to bring their children, as the ceremony could be overwhelming for them.
However, there is precedent for young members of the royal family attending such ceremonies.
The King himself was only four years old when he assisted at the coronation of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, in 1953.
Princess Anne was even younger, at just three years old.
The report about the children’s exclusion from the ceremony follows suggestions from royal insiders that the royal family is determined to keep the Duke and Duchess away from most of the proceedings on the day.
Some family members hope that the couple will be seated in isolation and kept away from the main events.
“They’ll be given the cold shoulder by very many relatives,” said one friend of the family.
“Many of the family just want nothing to do with them, and if they have to see them at the coronation, then so be it.
But they don’t want to socialize with them.”
Buckingham Palace has thus far declined to comment on whether His Majesty’s grandchildren will have a role in the service.
However, it is understood that the Queen Consort’s older grandchildren, who are a few years older than George and Charlotte, will be involved.
For example, Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles has two children aged 15 and 13, while their daughter Laura Lorbs has a 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old twin boys.
George and Charlotte have increasingly accompanied their parents on public outings in recent years, leading to expectations that they will be included in the coronation celebrations.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the attendance of Harry and Meghan’s children, the Duke and Duchess are still expected to spend most of the day after the service celebrating Archie’s fourth birthday, which happens to fall on the same day.
So, what do you think about this news?
Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend the coronation ceremony even if their children are not invited?
