Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix mini-series has reportedly been snubbed by their celebrity friends and members of the royal family.
According to the Daily Mail, key allies such as Elton John, Vogue editor Edward Enninful, and music producer David Foster have chosen not to participate in the program.
Even former US President Barack Obama and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey are said to have turned down the opportunity to be involved.
It appears that due to the deep rift between Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes, there will be no participation from any royal family members, not even Princess Eugenie, who is still on good terms with the couple.
Despite being on good terms with Harry and Meghan, Vogue editor Edward Enninful is also not involved in the project.
The absence of Sir Elton John, a close friend of the late Princess Diana, is notable, especially considering his previous defense of the Sussexes.
Additionally, David Furnish, Elton John’s husband and one of the executives working on another proposed show called Pearl, will not be part of the series.
Music producer David Foster has also confirmed that he will not be taking part.
Even Omid Scobie, known for his support of the Sussexes, and royal biographer Tina Brown are not involved in the project.
According to US sources, Oprah Winfrey and the Obamas are hesitant to get involved in what they perceive as a family drama.
While it remains uncertain whether Earl Spencer or his sisters Jane and Sarah might appear in the program, sources suggest that this is highly unlikely.
There are unconfirmed rumors that Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, could make an appearance, although she has never previously spoken on camera.
According to US Weekly, Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, were not thrilled by the first teaser for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix series.
The trailer aired during their trip to Boston, leaving them puzzled.
The release of the trailer has reportedly strained relationships that were already hanging by a thread.
The series promises to expose the prejudice the couple faced at the palace, with Harry particularly determined to share their side of the story.
The timing of the trailer’s release did not go unnoticed by royal observers, who questioned why it coincided with William and Catherine’s long-planned trip to the US.
Royal expert Jonathan Sacondoti commented, “It just shows how much they’ll go to any end at all for as much publicity as possible.”
The teaser footage included a still photo from the March 2020 Commonwealth service, where Harry and Meghan attended alongside William and Catherine shortly after announcing their plans to step back from the royal family.
The event attracted attention at the time due to the apparent tension between the brothers.
Further details about the alleged disagreement between Catherine and Meghan have been revealed in royal author Tom Bower’s book Revenge.
Bower claims that the two disagreed on the hemline and fit of Princess Charlotte’s dress, as well as whether the bridesmaids should wear tights at the wedding.
Catherine, exhausted from giving birth to Prince Louis, was unable to handle the disagreement, while Meghan refused to compromise, leading to Catherine’s distress.
As the anticipation for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix mini-series grows, it seems that their celebrity friends and members of the royal family are choosing to distance themselves from the project.
With key figures declining involvement, it remains to be seen how this will impact the series and its reception.
