Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s profiles on the official website for the Royal Family still have numerous errors, and now they have also been significantly downgraded.
The official Royal Family website recently underwent some adjustments, but Prince Harry’s page still contains glaring mistakes.
These inaccuracies were highlighted by the Daily Express back in August, including referring to Prince Harry as HRH and mistakenly labeling the late Queen Elizabeth II as monarch at least 74 times.
While other parts of the site were quickly corrected, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s profile pages remain unchanged.
These pages incorrectly state that the couple still holds royal patronages, splits their time between the UK and North America, and resides at Frogmore Cottage.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams expressed concern about these errors, noting that they create an impression of being out of touch.
He suggested that the biographies should either be updated to reflect current events or exist in name only.
This oversight reflects on the website as a whole.
On a positive note, the page dedicated to members of the Royal Family has been refreshed, featuring new pictures of each senior royal.
Princess Catherine’s image shows her meeting the Windrush, Cimmeroo elders in Cardiff in October, while King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William’s images are all from around the time of the coronation.
William’s picture shows him on stage during the coronation concert at Windsor Castle, while the King and Queen’s images were released a month before the historic day.
The official portraits were taken in Buckingham Palace’s Blue Drawing Room by photographer Hugo Bernand.
The order of appearance now reflects seniority within the royal ranks, with the King and Queen at the top, followed by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Notably, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew have been significantly bumped down the list and now appear at the bottom of the page.
The website continues to evolve, even as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved on to their own platform, Archwell.
Although the palace swiftly removed Prince Harry’s HRH title from his profile page after the Daily Express pointed out the error last year, several other inaccuracies persist.
At the very top of the profile page, it states, “As announced in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess have stepped back as senior members of the royal family.
They’re balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor their duty to the King, the Commonwealth, and their patronages.”
Interestingly, this final sentence is a direct copy of Harry and Meghan’s original statement when they announced their decision to step back as senior royals.
However, the late Queen has been substituted for the King.
It’s worth noting that this excerpt is now long outdated, as the palace has since clarified how exactly their decision would work in practice.
Harry did retain the following private patronages or presidencies – African Parks, the Henry Van Straubenze Memorial Fund, Invictus Games, Centrebelt, and Wellchild.
Mr. Fitzwilliams pointed out that Meghan’s profile page is particularly misleading, as anyone reading it would think that Meghan is still a patron of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Elsewhere on Harry’s biography page, it states that the couple’s official residence is Frogmore Cottage.
