Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, made a surprise return to the UK as he was spotted arriving at London’s Royal Court of Justice.
The prince is one of the well-known individuals involved in a legal battle against Associated Newspaper A&L for the alleged misuse of personal information.
On Monday morning, reporters caught sight of Prince Harry walking into the building for the four-day preliminary hearing.
Mr. Justice Nicklin is leading the proceedings, which revolve around the legal action brought by high-profile individuals, including Prince Harry, against the publisher of the Daily Mail, Mail Online, and Mail on Sunday, Associated Newspaper Ltd., A&L.
Last year, Prince Harry, along with Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Liz Hurley, Sadie Frost, and Baroness Doreen Lawrence, announced their claims for misuse of private information against A&L.
The group alleged that they had evidence of abhorrent criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy committed by A&L.
These unlawful acts included hiring private investigators to place listening devices inside cars and homes, as well as recording private phone conversations.
A&L responded to the allegations, dismissing them as preposterous smears and an orchestrated attempt to involve the mail titles in the phone-hacking scandal.
A spokesperson for A&L further stated that the claims were unsubstantiated and highly defamatory, lacking credible evidence.
During the first day of the hearing, A&L will seek to have the claims against them dismissed without a trial.
Prince Harry’s unexpected appearance at the Royal Court of Justice surprised royal watchers.
However, it is worth noting that he is not expected to meet with either King Charles III or Prince William during his stay in the UK, as they are both away from London.
Prince Harry’s last visit to the UK was in September 2022, when he and the Duchess of Sussex attended various events related to their patronages and organizations close to their hearts.
Their stay was extended due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, allowing them to attend her funeral service at Balmoral Castle on September 19th.
While Prince Harry’s presence at the Royal Court of Justice came as a surprise, there is speculation that he and his wife may travel together across the Atlantic for the coronation of King Charles, scheduled for May 6th at Westminster Abbey.
The couple confirmed receiving an invitation in late February but did not disclose whether they had made a decision regarding their attendance at the historic event.
