Prince Harry showed a moment of sadness during the coronation of King Charles on Saturday, according to a body language expert.
The Duke, who sat in the third row alongside other members of the royal family, including his father and mother-in-law, Queen Camilla, appeared to be experiencing mixed emotions during the extravagant ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
While Prince Andrew was permitted to wear ceremonial robes, Harry opted for a suit instead, which raised eyebrows.
Body language expert Darren Statton noted that Harry seemed confident and elated throughout most of the ceremony, displaying signs of pride towards his father.
However, as King Charles passed during the procession, Harry displayed fleeting moments of sadness in his facial expressions, as if he felt like an outsider looking in.
This may have triggered feelings of nostalgia for him.
Statton also observed that Harry appeared slightly out of sync compared to everyone else while seated in the Abbey.
He was seen adjusting his sleeves, which is a telltale pacifying gesture, suggesting that he was seeking reassurance.
It’s worth noting that this was the first time Harry had been in the UK with his family since the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The recent criticism of life in the royal family by Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, has strained relations between them and the rest of the royals.
Despite the challenges, Mr. Statton believes that the Duke of Sussex felt compassion throughout the ceremony.
As the ceremony played out, Harry seemed to ease into his stance and expressions, gaining more confidence as time went on.
Another body language expert, Judy James, highlighted Harry’s sense of humor during the event.
He was seen joking with Princess Eugene and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and appeared to be in good spirits.
After chatting with Eugene and Jack, Harry continued to display his confident and happy demeanor as he made his way up the aisle, nodding, grinning, and chatting with people in the congregation.
His striding walk looked jaunty, almost like a display of bravado, as if he wanted to show the world that he was upbeat, confident, and happy to be back.
It remains to be seen how Prince Harry’s relationship with King Charles will evolve after the coronation.
The ceremony seemed to be a challenging experience for Harry, but it also provided an opportunity for him to reconnect with his family.
Only time will tell if this will lead to a resolution or further tensions between them.
