Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, found himself in an uncomfortable situation when a journalist confronted him about his family troubles at a glamorous awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
Carolyn Graham, a seasoned royal correspondent, openly expressed her lack of sympathy for Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, who had pulled out of the event at the last minute.
The occasion in question was the Living Legends of Aviation Awards, hosted by John Travolta, where Harry was being honored for his military service and work with the Invictus Games.
Graham described the event as cheesy and lackluster, and it was meant to be the couple’s first joint appearance on the Hollywood red carpet.
However, Meghan decided not to attend, citing her child’s illness as the reason.
Nevertheless, some insiders speculated that Meghan’s absence was an attempt to avoid public scrutiny following a series of controversies that have tarnished her image and strained her relationship with the royal family.
Currently, Meghan is embroiled in a legal battle with a British newspaper over the partial publication of a letter she wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, without her consent.
Additionally, she has faced allegations of bullying staff members during her time as a senior royal, which she vehemently denies.
Graham, who has covered the royal family for decades, was unimpressed by Harry’s presence at the gala, describing the event as filled with frivolous personalities and sycophants.
She criticized Harry for posing with a German prince who claims to be his distant cousin and was previously known as the king of trash TV.
Graham also pointed out that Harry chose to mingle with the Hollywood elite while his father, Prince Charles, was undergoing a prostate procedure and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton was hospitalized for an abdominal problem.
During the event, Graham approached Harry and asked him about his family’s health issues.
Harry appeared shocked and uncomfortable, attempting to brush off the question.
Graham then candidly expressed her lack of sympathy for him and Meghan, accusing them of abandoning their royal duties and betraying the queen.
This confrontation left Harry looking hurt and angry as he walked away from her.
Graham clarified that she was not trying to be rude but rather wanted to provide Harry with a reality check.
She believed that Harry and Meghan had lost touch with the British public and their royal roots, transforming into mere celebrity figures paraded in front of paying guests.
In her view, their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made allegations of racism and neglect against the royal family, had damaged both the monarchy and their own reputation.
Expressing her hopes, Graham wished for Harry to realize his mistake in leaving the royal family and moving to the US with Meghan.
She believed that Harry had forsaken his heritage and legacy, alienating his loyal fans.
Graham dismissed the notion of a successful future for the couple in Hollywood, predicting that they would soon be forgotten and replaced by the next big thing.
According to her, Harry and Meghan had nothing substantial to offer the world apart from empty words and meaningless trinkets.
She lamented that they had wasted their potential and squandered the opportunity to make a positive difference.
