Prince Harry, who recently stepped down as a senior royal, expressed deep regret yesterday over his inability to publicly honor the country’s war dead at the Remembrance Sunday service held at the Cenotaph.
Despite his strong desire to participate in the event, he felt compelled to follow his wife’s wishes, and now he seems to be filled with remorse.
Renowned royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams noted that the Duke of Sussex would have found it challenging to watch the service due to his own military background.
Fitzwilliams stated, “The military will always hold great significance in Prince Harry’s life, and despite any pretense, he must be experiencing deep conflict.”
Having served in the army for ten years, including two tours in Afghanistan, Prince Harry was stripped of his military titles and patronages upon stepping down as a senior royal.
Consequently, he is no longer permitted to wear military uniform at royal events, such as the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last September.
This would undoubtedly have been a bitter blow for him, as not being able to salute without his uniform must have been disheartening.
It was a consequence of his own choices, which also resulted in the loss of his cherished military patronages.
In light of these circumstances, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan suggested that King Charles should invite Harry to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph next year.
However, this statement has faced criticism.
A Palace Insider expressed their disapproval, stating that Queen Elizabeth II, whom Harry disrespected, served as their Commander-in-Chief.
They further added that Harry displayed no respect for her during her final year of service or for the Commonwealth, which she held in high regard.
The Insider also deemed it offensive and insulting to both the UK and the US, as well as all service members from both countries, that Harry wore UK service medals while performing a comedy skit for veterans from another nation.
It was emphasized that the British royal family does not pay personal tributes at such events; rather, they honor the fallen on behalf of their military patrons and the Queen.
Prince Charles participated in this capacity as the current Commander-in-Chief.
Therefore, as someone who represents no one, Harry has no right to be present.
Prince Harry is also deeply upset about losing his future within the royal family, which has tarnished his father’s reputation.
The Duke of Sussex now realizes the extent to which he has strayed and caused harm.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Tom Quinn, the author of “Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family,” revealed insights from someone who worked for Harry when he resided at Frogmore in Windsor.
According to Quinn, this individual questioned what would happen when people lost interest in Harry’s constant complaints and when the time came for the complaining to cease.
They wondered what positive role he could fulfill as a royal.
Quinn further claimed that Harry’s grievances primarily stem from his discontent with not being the number one figure and lacking a larger role within the royal family.
In retrospect, Harry is beginning to understand the value of being a member of the monarchy and is already experiencing regret.
In conclusion, Prince Harry’s decision to step down as a senior royal has left him filled with remorse, particularly regarding his absence from the Cenotaph service.
Despite his military background, he was unable to participate due to his loss of titles and patronages.
