The simmering royal racism row, which resurfaced following the release of Omid Scobie’s new book, “Endgame,” has left Prince Harry with only one option to repair his strained relationship with his brother, Prince William, and the rest of the Royal Family.
The Dutch version of the book implicated two senior members of the Royal Family in the racism controversy, further intensifying tensions between the Sussexes and the firm.
This feud initially sparked in 2021 when Meghan Markle revealed during an interview with Oprah Winfrey that a senior royal had expressed concerns about the skin color of their unborn son, Archie.
While sources close to the Sussexes, as well as Mr. Scobie himself, have denied their involvement in “Endgame,” royal expert Rupert Bell believes that Prince Harry must break his silence on the matter if there is any hope of rebuilding trust with the Royal Family.
Bell acknowledges that the truth behind the allegations remains uncertain, but he points out that during an ITV interview with Tom Bradby, Prince Harry denied any racist allegations and referred to “unconscious bias” instead.
Bradby appeared critical of Harry’s comments during the interview.
Speaking on Talk TV, Bell emphasized that Meghan’s claims were genuine, as she reported what Harry had told her about the incident.
Consequently, Bell suggests that Prince Harry needs to swallow his pride and offer an apology if he truly wants to mend the fractured relationship with his family.
Rebuilding the friendship between Harry and William seems to be contingent on this act of humility.
Relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family have been tumultuous ever since the couple’s departure from the royal fold and relocation to California in 2020.
In March 2021, Meghan and Harry participated in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, shedding light on their side of the story.
It was during this interview that Meghan made the explosive allegations about discussions within the senior ranks of the royal family regarding the potential darkness of Archie’s skin color.
Queen Elizabeth II responded to these claims, stating that the issues raised, particularly those related to race, are concerning and will be addressed privately, emphasizing that Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be cherished members of the family.
In January of this year, Prince Harry conducted a series of interviews to promote his memoir, “Spare.”
During an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby, he seemed to backtrack on the racism allegations, distinguishing between racism and unconscious bias while accusing the Royal Family of the latter.
The recent revelation in the Dutch version of Scobie’s book, which named two senior royals allegedly involved in the matter, has reignited the public discourse surrounding the issue.
While most major media outlets and newspapers have identified the individuals in question, the Daily Express has chosen not to disclose their names.
The ongoing controversy underscores the need for Prince Harry to take responsibility for his actions and offer an apology to begin the process of healing and restoring the strained relationship with Prince William and the rest of the Royal Family.
Only then can the fractures be repaired and harmony be restored within the monarchy.
