Prince Harry made headlines with his outfit choice at his father’s coronation on Saturday, May 6th.
Instead of buying a suit for the occasion, Harry borrowed a bespoke suit designed by Dior, much to the disappointment of royal fans.
Social media users expressed their dissatisfaction, commenting on the suit’s wrinkled appearance and worn-out trousers.
Dior’s designer, Kim Jones, revealed that the suit Harry wore was actually a trial item, explaining its crumpled state.
Meghan, Harry’s wife, had arranged for them to borrow the set under the condition that they would promote the design during the coronation.
This decision left Harry without his wife’s permission to purchase a designer suit.
It seems Meghan had envisioned Harry cosplaying as David Beckham, which may explain why he was seen rushing out of Westminster Abbey and spotted at the airport with a coat hanger in hand.
It is believed that he changed outfits either on the plane or at the airport to return the borrowed suit to the brand.
Meghan holds the belief that wearing clothes from a renowned designer house will make her look great due to her background as a model.
However, Harry’s suit choice was seen as a significant insult to British tradition.
Men attending the coronation were expected to wear mourning suits, characterized by black jackets with tails and striped trousers.
Instead, Harry wore a ready-to-wear suit with tails made from lightweight fabric, more suitable for a wedding.
It is evident that Harry knows what a proper mourning suit looks like, as he has worn them on numerous occasions and likely owns one tailored by British bespoke tailors.
The question arises: why did Harry not wear the appropriate suit?
It appears that he and Meghan were fulfilling their obligation to promote Dior, hence his wearing of a Dior off-the-peg tailed wedding suit.
The suit was likely not altered because it was a temporary loan, to be returned after the coronation.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has secured a deal with Dior, as she managed to convince Prince Charles to pay a substantial amount for a Dior kaftan years ago.
It seems that Meghan had Dior in mind long before “Megxit,” which aligns with her narrative of emulating Princess Diana.
It’s worth noting that the original version of the D light bag is closely associated with Diana herself.
Meghan’s association with Cartier also raises eyebrows, although it remains uncertain if she has a contract with them.
After the coronation, Prince Harry swiftly returned to California, catching a British Airways flight.
This marked his first public appearance alongside the royal family since he criticized them in his controversial memoir, “Spare.”
During the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Harry was seated in the third row, two rows behind his brother, the Prince of Wales, and his stepmother, the Queen.
Upon his return to Los Angeles, Harry is believed to have celebrated his son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, which coincided with the coronation ceremony.
Despite the controversy surrounding his suit choice, Harry’s presence at the event demonstrated an effort to reconcile with his family amidst ongoing tensions.
