Prince Harry has revealed that he has not had contact with his brother, Prince William, and his father, King Charles, for some time.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper on Sunday’s 60 Minutes episode, the Duke of Sussex discussed the release of his bombshell memoir, Spare, and the strained relationships within the Royal Family.
When asked about his current communication with his family members, Prince Harry replied, “Currently no.”
He acknowledged that the last time they spoke was not recent.
However, he expressed his hope for reconciliation with the Prince of Wales and the Sovereign in the future.
Both he and his wife, Meghan Markle, are looking forward to a private and constructive conversation.
Based on Prince Harry’s statement, the Royal Family is reportedly considering holding a meeting with the Duke of Sussex before the coronation.
This meeting would involve key members of the firm, as well as individuals trusted by both Prince Harry and the Royals.
U.S.-based Royal Historian Marlene Cohen supports this idea, suggesting that the initial stage of discussions should exclude Meghan Markle and Prince Charles.
Cohen believes that Prince Harry should first talk to his father, brother, and advisors about Meghan, and then include her and Catherine to address any concerns.
Cohen also emphasized the need for apologies from both sides during this meeting.
One issue to be addressed is the treatment of Meghan during her time in the UK.
Another important topic would be why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not immediately refute reports accusing the Royal Family of racism following their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Cohen expressed disappointment that Prince Harry allowed these accusations to linger for almost two years without correcting them.
She believes it was hurtful for the Royals that he did not issue a statement on the day it happened.
Rumors of a potential meeting to improve the relationship between Prince Harry and the firm have been circulating since January.
A source told the Sunday Times that it would require flexibility from all parties involved, but it is possible to find a resolution.
The source suggested that Prince Harry should be in a room with the King, Prince of Wales, a few other family members, and trusted individuals who have always supported him.
This would create an environment where he does not feel ambushed.
It was also proposed that figures like Elf and Lane Fox, Harry’s former private secretary, and Christopher or Guyt, the late Queen’s former private secretary who advised the Sussexes, should be present.
Both sides would need to acknowledge their mistakes and express understanding for the pain Prince Harry has experienced.
The question remains: Will there be peace between Prince Harry and the Royal Family?
Will Meghan disrupt the potential meeting?
