Prince Harry has always cherished the memories of his late mother, Princess Diana, and he recently used one of those memories as inspiration for a special christening gift for his nephew, Prince Louis.
It has been revealed that the Duke of Sussex wanted to honor Diana’s love for collecting first editions of classic books by starting a collection for his two nephews and niece.
According to reports, Prince Harry spared no expense in acquiring an original copy of A.E.A.
Milne’s Winnie the Pooh from 1926.
The rare book cost him a whopping £8,000.
A friend of the prince shared that one of Harry’s fondest childhood memories was his mother reading him bedtime stories, and he wanted to pass on that joy to the younger generation of the royal family.
Originally, Prince Harry intended to purchase Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass, which was priced at £24,000.
However, he decided that Winnie the Pooh would be a more suitable choice for a first edition.
Robinson Crusoe was Prince William’s favorite book, but Harry had always been a fan of A.E.A.
Milne’s works.
Prince Louis’ christening took place on July 9, 2018, at St James’ Palace in London.
The youngest of the Wales’ children wore a copy of the traditional royal christening gown, which holds significant historical value.
Commissioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1841, the original gown was worn by 62 royal babies over 163 years.
Due to its delicate condition, the original gown is now conserved, and a replica was created in 2008 using a unique process.
Angela Kelly, the late Queen’s dressmaker and close friend, played a crucial role in this endeavor.
She traveled to Italy with dresser Barbara Buckfield to find the perfect lace for the new gown, all while carrying the priceless original in her handbag.
The process took approximately nine months, with Angela showing the Queen the gown at each stage.
The replica gown was first worn by Lady Louise Windsor’s brother, James, in 2008.
Since then, it has been worn by Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and other members of the royal family at their respective christenings.
This heartwarming gift from Prince Harry must have been well received during Prince Louis’ special day.
It is a testament to Harry’s thoughtfulness and his desire to preserve the traditions and memories of his beloved mother.
However, it is natural to wonder how things have changed for Prince Harry and his relationship with his brother and family since Meghan came into the picture.
