In recent times, Prince Harry’s close-knit group of friends has undergone significant transformations.
Growing up, both Prince Harry and his brother shared a circle of friends, many of whom have even become godparents to their children.
However, various factors have led to Harry losing old friends and gaining new ones, including his move to California with Meghan and the strained relationship with his brother, Prince William.
Some friends may have been forced to choose sides, while others seem to maintain relationships with both princes.
Reports have emerged that Harry now only has six friends remaining in Britain, and even this small circle is hesitant to challenge the royals when he makes questionable decisions.
One of Harry’s oldest friends is Tom Inskipp, also known as Skippy.
Their friendship dates back to their childhood, having met at Eton, where they were classmates.
Skippy’s father, Owen Inskipp, is a close friend of King Charles and serves as the fieldmaster of his favorite hunt, the Beaufort.
Skippy was a regular at the nightclub established by the princes in the basement of Highgrove.
However, rumors circulated on social media during the early stages of Harry and Meghan’s relationship, suggesting that Tom had met Meghan before Harry, which made him skeptical of their romance.
Consequently, he was eventually removed from Harry’s inner circle due to this doubt.
Skippy has stood by the Duke during various scandals, including Harry’s involvement in a 2010 party where he was seen inhaling hippy crack and the infamous 2012 incident in Las Vegas where the prince was photographed n^ked during a game of strip billiards.
Interestingly, Harry and Meghan attended Tom’s wedding to Lara Hughes Young in 2017, prior to officially confirming their own relationship.
However, rumors suggest that Meghan was not invited to the wedding, as at the time, Harry had broken up with her.
Nevertheless, Meghan flew to the wedding location and essentially gatecrashed the event, revealing to Harry that she was pregnant.
This incident caused a significant falling out between the childhood friends, as Skippy questioned Meghan’s suitability as a future royal.
According to Tom Bauer, an author, Harry invited 16 of his oldest friends from Eton to join him for a weekend at Sandringham.
The plan included a Friday dinner, shooting on Saturday, and a Sunday lunch.
Harry was looking forward to endless banter with his closest friends.
However, the atmosphere quickly changed when Meghan challenged every guest who expressed views contrary to her own woke values.
Bauer writes that Meghan lacked any sense of humor and became a dampener on the party.
Her strong reaction caught everyone off guard, as their jokes on topics such as sexism, feminism, and transgender issues ricocheted uncomfortably around the living and dining rooms.
Following the event, messages were exchanged among the guests on their way home.
One message exclaimed, “Oh my god, what about her?
Harry must be fucking nuts.”
It was clear that Meghan’s presence had left a lasting impact, leaving the guests exhausted and questioning Harry’s judgment.
This incident marked a turning point in the dynamics of Harry’s inner circle.
When Harry and Meghan tied the knot in May 2018, Skippy and other close friends attended the church service and reception.
However, many of them were snubbed from the private evening party at Frogmore House.
According to the book “Finding Freedom” published in 2020, Tom expressed concerns about the speed at which Harry and Meghan’s relationship was progressing.
He advised Harry to live with Meghan before making any further serious commitments.
Authors Omid Scobie and Caroline Durand noted that although Tom’s advice came from a place of good intentions, Harry did not fully appreciate it.
