In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry reached out to his father, King Charles, following the news of his eviction from Frogmore Cottage.
The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, were gifted the cottage by the late Queen Elizabeth as a wedding present.
However, they were asked to vacate the residence in March last year, shortly after the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare.
According to Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame, this news deeply upset Harry, prompting him to make an emotional plea to his father.
Scobie reveals that Prince Harry expressed his concerns about the impact this would have on his ability to see his beloved grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Just a few days after receiving the eviction notice, Harry called King Charles and asked a poignant question, “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren?”
Scobie further explains that the King’s response was lackluster, offering only a half-hearted assurance that they would always have a place to stay.
This revelation sheds light on the strained relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his father since Harry and Meghan’s departure from their royal duties and subsequent relocation to the United States in 2020.
Royal commentator Michael Cole describes the lack of contact between King Charles and his grandchildren as a deeply saddening state of affairs.
Cole expressed his dismay during an interview with GB News, stating, “When the King asked Prince Harry and his wife to vacate Frogmore Cottage, Harry asked if the King wanted to see his grandchildren.
Well, the truth is he is not seeing his grandchildren.
Prince Archie has had limited interaction with his grandfather, and I’m unsure if the King has even seen Princess Lilibet more than once.
It is a very unfortunate situation.”
Furthermore, Cole did not hold back in criticizing Prince Harry’s recent claims of missing the United Kingdom.
