Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are once again set to spend Christmas in the United States due to ongoing tensions with the royal family.
In a heartwarming anecdote, Harry shared his excitement upon receiving a Christmas present from Meghan after the couple’s departure from the royal family and relocation to California.
The Duke and Duchess have embraced their new life in the US, opting to celebrate the festive season at their home in Montecito rather than in the UK.
Reflecting on their first Christmas in America, Harry recounted the joyful moments spent with friends via FaceTime, including some from Britain.
He fondly remembered watching their son, Archie, gleefully running around the Christmas tree, while also exchanging gifts, keeping in line with the Windsor family tradition.
Among the presents was a small Christmas ornament featuring the Queen, which caught Harry by surprise.
He exclaimed, “What the?”
upon unwrapping it, as Meghan had spotted it at a local store and thought he would appreciate it.
Holding the ornament up to the light, Harry marveled at its resemblance to his grandmother and carefully hung it on a branch at eye level, finding comfort in her presence.
However, Harry revealed that the delicate decoration did not last long.
While playing near the tree, Archie accidentally jostled the stand, causing the tree to shake and the ornament to fall.
The sound of shattering glass filled the room, prompting Harry to turn and witness the broken pieces scattered across the floor.
In an attempt to fix the damage, Archie grabbed a spray bottle, believing that spraying water on the broken ornament would restore it.
Meghan quickly intervened, urging him not to spray “Gandon.”
Harry swiftly fetched a dustpan and began sweeping up the fragments, all the while contemplating the unusual turn of events.
On Friday evening, Harry and Meghan conveyed their holiday greetings through a Christmas message.
However, unlike previous years, the couple chose not to include a photograph of their children, Archie and Lilibet, alongside the message.
Last year’s card marked the first time the public caught a glimpse of their youngest child, Lilibet, who is now two years old.
Amidst rumors that King Charles had hoped to spend Christmas with Harry and Meghan in the UK, Vanity Fair reported that a royal insider confirmed the unlikelihood of such an invitation.
The source explained that there remains significant animosity towards the Sussexes, particularly from the Prince and Princess of Wales, making it challenging for them to be included in the royal festivities.
The insider also highlighted Charles’ concerns about potential leaks of private conversations by the Sussex camp, which has led to limited interactions between the two parties.
As the holiday season approaches, Prince Harry and Meghan continue to forge their own path, cherishing their time together as a family in the warmth of their Californian home.
