During an unexpected visit to a school on April 25, the Prince of Wales shared a heartwarming update on Catherine.
He met with the inspiring young Freddie Hadley, who had extended a heartfelt invitation to the royal through a handwritten note.
The future king made his way to St. Michael’s Church of England High School in Rowley Regis, Sanwell.
Expressing his regret that Catherine couldn’t join him, the Prince of Wales conveyed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the staff.
Addressing the school personnel, the Prince remarked, “I am sorry Catherine can’t be here as well,” highlighting her eagerness to accompany him.
He commended the multitude of letters received, singling out Freddie’s note for its exceptional quality and thoughtfulness.
Reflecting on their interaction, the Prince recalled his promise to attend the event after Freddie reached out to him last October on World Mental Health Day.
In response to Freddie’s commendable efforts in spearheading mental health initiatives at school, the Prince of Wales conveyed his regrets at not being able to join them on that day.
He praised the school’s dedication to addressing mental health challenges and encouraged them to continue their impactful work in overcoming stigmas associated with mental health issues.
Subsequently, he discreetly arranged a surprise visit to the school during his public engagements in the West Midlands.
As the Prince embarked on the first of his three scheduled appearances in the region, the students, including Freddie, were pleasantly surprised by his unanticipated visit.
To maintain the element of surprise, school authorities had informed Freddie that the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands would be visiting instead.
It was only when the Prince stepped out of his motorcade at the school premises that Freddie realized the true identity of his distinguished visitor.
Providing an update on his wife Catherine, the Prince of Wales referred to her courageous video statement on March 22, where she disclosed her cancer diagnosis to the public.
Catherine had shared that she had commenced chemotherapy and appealed for privacy and understanding during this challenging time for their family.
Acknowledging the emotional turmoil they had been navigating, the Prince emphasized their collective efforts to manage the situation discreetly for the well-being of their loved ones.
In light of Catherine’s health journey, the Prince expressed his gratitude for the support and understanding they had received.
He alluded to the significant period of waiting before Catherine could initiate treatment following major surgery.
