Prince William and Princess Catherine, also known as the Prince and Princess of Wales, have taken to Twitter to publicly wish King Charles a very happy birthday as he turns 74.
Through their official Twitter account, the royal couple wrote a heartfelt message, extending their warm wishes to His Majesty the King.
Along with their post, they shared a sweet picture of the monarch, capturing him with a wide smile during one of his engagements.
This message from the Prince and Princess of Wales comes shortly after the official royal family Twitter account also celebrated Charles’ first birthday as the Sovereign of the Country.
The tweet conveyed well wishes to His Majesty the King on his special day.
It has been two months since Charles ascended to the throne, and as his reign is still in its early stages, Buckingham Palace has not yet announced whether the tradition initiated by King George III in the mid-1700s will be followed to celebrate his birthday with public festivities on a summer day.
Previously, the late Queen, whose birthday fell in April, upheld this tradition.
While she spent her actual birthday privately with her family, she typically marked her official celebration on a Saturday in mid-June by attending the grand event known as Trooping the Colour.
This occasion also served as an opportunity to announce the annual birthday honours.
Today, King Charles is anticipated to spend his birthday privately with Queen Camilla.
However, several military performances throughout the day will publicly commemorate this special occasion.
At 11am, during the customary changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace, the band of the Household Cavalry will perform a rendition of “Happy Birthday” dedicated to Charles.
An hour later, the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will fire 41 volleys at London’s Green Park, followed by the band of the Scots Guards playing “Happy Birthday.”
Finally, at 1pm, the Honourable Artillery Company will honor the King with a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London.
Over the weekend, Catherine and Prince William made two public appearances alongside King Charles in anticipation of his birthday.
On Saturday, they attended the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
The event paid tribute to the late Queen, who held the esteemed position of the longest-serving British head of the armed forces.
