Prince William has arrived in Dubai for a whirlwind 24-hour visit, aiming to highlight the best of British industry and talent.
This trip marks the first time that the Duke of Cambridge is taking his global environmental project, the Earthshot Prize, on the road as it enters its second year.
Additionally, his visit coincides with the United Arab Emirates’ 50th anniversary and the UK’s National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Expo 2020 Dubai, a six-month project featuring exhibits from 190 countries, focuses on innovation, technology, and culture.
As part of his visit, Prince William will draw attention to efforts to combat the illegal wildlife trade through his United for Wildlife campaign, established in 2014.
This trip also serves as Prince William’s first foreign visit since he traveled to the Republic of Ireland with his wife, Kate, in February 2020.
The royal family aims to strengthen ties with the Gulf state, following recent visits to the Middle East, including Jordan and Israel.
A spokesperson from Kensington Palace emphasized the deep and strong bond between the UK and the UAE.
Prince William’s visit provides an opportunity to engage with young Emiratis, government leaders, and dedicated conservationists.
The visit aligns with Britain’s post-Brexit strategy to forge new trade deals around the world, particularly with Gulf countries.
In September, the oil-rich Gulf state committed £10 billion to invest in British clean energy, infrastructure, technology, and life sciences, further expanding its sovereign investment partnership with the UK government.
