In an effort to provide their children with a more normal upbringing, Prince William and Kate Middleton have made the decision to move their family from London to a new home in Windsor.
As part of this transition, the royal couple has enrolled their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, at the prestigious Lamerick School, where they will begin their education in just a few weeks.
The Cambridge family’s new residence in Windsor Great Park will require a daily commute of approximately 14 miles for the children.
However, rather than opting for boarding arrangements, William and Kate will take turns shuttling their kids to and from school.
This means that Prince William himself will be responsible for the morning school run, ensuring that his little ones arrive at Lamerick School on time.
Lamerick School, located in Berkshire, is a co-educational prep school spread across 52 acres of beautiful countryside.
With its own orchard, complete with bees, chickens, and pigs, as well as woodlands, a nine-hole golf course, a swimming pool, a cricket pitch, squash courts, and a dance studio, the school offers a wide range of facilities for its 615 students aged 3 to 13.
While the Cambridge children will enjoy the benefits of attending Lamerick School, their parents will face the financial commitment of annual fees.
The total cost for all three children amounts to approximately £53,628 per year.
Prince Louis, who will be joining the nursery class, incurs fees of £13,167.
Princess Charlotte, currently in Year 3, will cost her parents £19,464 annually.
Finally, Prince George, who will enter Year 5, will require fees of £20,997 each year.
The decision to move to Lamerick School was reportedly influenced by the royal children themselves, who expressed a desire for a more rural lifestyle.
This aligns with Prince William and Kate’s goal of giving their children a normal start to life.
Living in central London, the family often feels the pressures of being in a fishbowl, and they hope that the move to the countryside will provide George, Charlotte, and Louis with more freedom.
After months of speculation, Kensington Palace officially announced the Cambridge family’s relocation to Windsor.
In a statement, the palace expressed gratitude to Thomas’s Battersea, where George and Charlotte had previously attended school, and highlighted the similarities in ethos and values between Thomas’s and Lamerick School.
Jonathan Perry, the Headmaster at Lamerick School, expressed his delight at welcoming Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to the school community.
The entire school eagerly awaits their arrival in September 2022, along with other new pupils.
With Prince William taking on the responsibility of the morning school run, it is clear that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are committed to ensuring their children have as normal a childhood as possible.
The move to Lamerick School, with its idyllic surroundings and excellent educational facilities, marks a significant step in this direction.
