Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, and Prince William faced a turbulent period in their relationship, causing doubts to arise within the Royal couple.
One incident that stood out was when Prince William changed his mind about spending New Year’s Eve with the Middletons, leaving Kate devastated.
According to royal author Katie Nicole, this sudden change occurred after the late Queen and Prince Charles advised William not to rush their relationship.
The future King initially agreed to celebrate with Kate’s family but eventually canceled altogether, breaking her heart.
In her 2011 book, “The Making of Royal Romance,” Katie Nicole revealed that William had promised Kate he would include her in the festivities with his family.
However, he later decided to stay with his own family instead, informing Kate of this change on Boxing Day.
It seems that William had been having second thoughts about their future together and sought the counsel of his father and grandmother.
Both advised him to take his time and not rush into anything.
Prince William first met Kate Middleton at the University of St. Andrews in 2001.
Initially, they developed a close friendship before their romantic relationship began during their second year of university.
Interestingly, even before their romance fully blossomed, the couple lived together with their fellow classmates.
However, Kate’s concerns about their relationship were proven right when they briefly broke up in 2007.
Sources indicate that the Queen was disappointed by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s split, which fortunately turned out to be short-lived.
Just weeks after the breakup, the couple was spotted kissing at an Army Padre event held at barracks in Bovington.
In July of the same year, Kate and her brother James attended the concert for Diana at Wembley, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing.
It was shortly after this that their romance got back on track, with Kate moving into William’s Clarence House flat later in the year.
Despite their brief separation, the couple announced their engagement in 2010 and tied the knot the following year.
Now, nearly 12 years into their marriage, they have three children: Prince George, Prince Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
It is fascinating to contemplate how different things might have been for the royal family if Kate and William had permanently split during that rocky patch.
