In a shocking revelation, Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame, sheds light on a secret meeting between Prince William and the editor of a newspaper.
The meeting, which took place in a quiet pub, was reportedly held to discuss Prince Harry’s lawsuits.
This intriguing disclosure offers a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the royal family.
Scobie, a close friend and alleged biographer of Meghan Markle, unveils this clandestine gathering in his book.
According to Scobie, the Prince of Wales met with Martin Ivins, the editor-in-chief of the Sunday Times and a News Corp executive, on October 11, 2019.
At that time, Prince Harry had recently announced his intention to file lawsuits against The Sun, a News Corp publication, and MGN, the former owners of the Mirror, for alleged phone hacking.
The meeting, as described by Scobie, was cleverly disguised as a casual get-together to watch the England vs. Czech Republic game in a South London pub.
Little did the attendees know that the lawsuits would be the primary topic of discussion.
Scobie writes in his book, released just this Tuesday, that Prince Harry weighed heavily on Prince William’s mind during the meeting.
The sudden announcement of the lawsuits came as a shock to the rest of the royal family, who, like the rest of the world, learned of the news while Harry and Meghan were touring Southern Africa.
Around the same time, Meghan Markle herself revealed her decision to sue the Mail on Sunday for publishing a private letter she had sent to her estranged father.
According to Scobie, Prince William regarded this as a step too far.
A former aide to Kensington Palace, who spoke to Scobie, claimed that William expressed his opinion on the matter, stating, “You just don’t take on the press like that; it’s a recipe for disaster.”
It seems that William was concerned about the potential consequences of Harry’s actions and the impact they could have on the family.
Scobie further reveals that Prince William had been actively engaging with the press, holding numerous meetings to strengthen his connections within the industry.
He was aware that Harry had been discussing their differences and diverging paths with journalists.
