Princess Anne, known for her tireless work ethic, was unable to attend the Christmas Day service at Sandringham with the rest of the Royal family due to a cold, according to reports.
The 72-year-old princess has been dubbed the hardest working Royal, having carried out an impressive 214 engagements this year alone.
However, she was noticeably absent from the church service, which was attended by King Charles, Camilla, the Queen Consort, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Among the family members who did attend the service were Anne’s children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, who were warmly greeted by crowds at the Norfolk estate.
It is understood that Princess Anne took this opportunity to rest after a busy year, during which she also mourned the passing of her mother.
Additionally, she was unable to attend Kate’s Westminster Abbey carol service on Christmas Eve, reportedly due to a scheduling conflict.
On that day, Anne was attending the London International Horse Show, which coincided with the service.
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, were present at the Christmas morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church.
Other members of the Royal family in attendance included Edward and Sophie Wessex with their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, as well as Princess Beatrice, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and his son Wolfie.
In a surprising turn of events, disgraced Prince Andrew made a public appearance alongside his youngest daughter, Prince Eugenie.
This marks the family’s first Christmas without the late queen, who passed away in September.
In recent years, the former monarch had chosen to spend the holiday season at Windsor Castle rather than adhering to the royal tradition of celebrating at Sandringham, a decision influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
