The peaceful passing of the Queen at Balmoral last month may have united the royal family in a time of grief, but tensions still run high among some relatives.
While much attention has been on King Charles III since his ascension to the throne, it is believed that Princess Anne has been chosen to handle the crisis facing the royal family.
Known for her no-nonsense attitude, Princess Anne is stepping up to fill the shoes left behind by her late father, Prince Philip, according to Charlie Griffiths, editor at The Large of the Mail on Sunday.
Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021, often dealt with issues within the royal family, and now Princess Anne is preparing to channel her father’s energy and confront her brother Prince Andrew and nephew Prince Harry.
Prince Charles has long been in favor of a slimmed-down monarchy, as reported even before the death of his mother.
There were concerns that once the throne was passed to him, hard-working royal Princess Anne would be sidelined, as reported by the Express.
Many are unaware that Princess Anne is still ranked below her younger brother, Prince Andrew, in the line of succession.
In 2013, the Succession to the Crown Act was amended to end the system of male prerogative, where a younger son could displace an elder daughter in the line of succession.
However, this amendment only applies to those born after October 28, 2011.
Constitutional expert Bob Morris, who was involved in the research process for the 2013 amendment, explained that it did not apply to older members of the royal family because they had already established their positions.
There was no constitutional reason to bring Anne back into the line of succession.
The changes were made mostly in anticipation of Kate’s pregnancy, and it was a good time to make the adjustments.
No one was actively being superseded by these changes.
The changes to the Succession Act mean that Princess Charlotte now ranks ahead of her younger brother, Prince Louis, in the line of succession.
While neither Prince Andrew nor Princess Anne are likely to become monarch, Prince Andrew’s position in the line of succession means he is a counselor of state.
On the other hand, Princess Anne has dedicated her life to serving the public and is often referred to as the hardest-working royal.
So, what do you think about this news?
Should King Charles bestow Andrew’s role and responsibilities upon Princess Anne?
