During the recent Platinum Jubilee Bank holiday weekend, Queen Elizabeth expressed her admiration for Princess Anne’s husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence.
As the only member of the Royal Family who does not work for the firm and is not a prestigious family member, Sir Timothy stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside the late monarch during the RAF flypast on June 2nd.
This gesture highlighted the Queen’s high regard for him.
Richard Fitzwilliams, a Royal Analyst, emphasized the significance of Sir Timothy’s position within the firm.
Although he does not work full-time with the Royal Family, he frequently accompanies his wife, Princess Anne, to sporadic Royal events.
Notably, he joined her on a recent tour to Uganda.
His presence on the balcony during the Platinum Jubilee further exemplified the Queen’s appreciation for him.
It is worth noting that Sir Timothy is the only non-royal born individual on the balcony.
In recognition of his contributions, the Queen bestowed upon Sir Timothy the honorary title of Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2011.
While Princess Anne is known for her no-fuss approach and dedication to her Royal duties, Sir Timothy also prefers to avoid the limelight.
Nevertheless, his role in the Royal family is highly valued.
On the opening day of the Historic Jubilee celebrations, the late Queen decided to invite only full-time working members of the firm and their closest relatives to the palace balcony.
Consequently, many prominent members of the Royal Family, including Mike and Sarah Tyndall and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, were not present during the special Jubilee weekend.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also prohibited from appearing on the balcony due to their departure as working members of the firm in March 2020.
Apart from Sir Timothy, the late Queen’s children and grandchildren were the only non-working royals in attendance at the RAF flypast.
Sir Timothy and Princess Anne tied the knot in December 1992, shortly after the Princess’s divorce from her first husband, Mark Phillips.
As a retired Navy commander who previously served as the late Queen’s equerry from 1986 to 1989, Sir Timothy often accompanies Princess Anne on her engagements, particularly those abroad.
Recently, they embarked on a trip to Australia and Papua New Guinea, where they participated in various events, including a garden party in Sydney and an investor ceremony in Port Moresby.
They also attended the Royal Agriculture Society of New South Wales.
During the Jubilee weekend, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy were assigned to travel to one of the four home countries to spread the festive spirit and support various causes, including Save the Children and Opportunity International.
Last month, they visited Uganda, and later this month, they will be heading to the Falkland Islands between November 17th and November 22nd.
