Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugene, daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, are reportedly at odds due to their conflicting allegiances to their cousin Prince Harry and their uncle King Charles.
The close bond between the York sisters has seemingly been strained by the ongoing disagreement between the RoR family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
According to a source, Beatrice attempted to caution Eugene about her association with Prince Harry and Meghan.
It is believed that Beatrice’s frustration stems from not being chosen to stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony on Coronation Day, possibly due to Eugene’s support for the Sussexes.
Eugene has publicly expressed her favoritism towards the Sussexes and maintains a close relationship with her cousin Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
Currently residing in Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Harry and Meghan, Eugene even made a cameo appearance in the couple’s Netflix series and has visited them at their new home in California.
Given their closeness, she is likely to be one of Harry’s few allies when he returns to London alone on May 6th to attend the coronation.
On the other hand, Beatrice is said to be aligning herself with her uncle King Charles III and her cousin Prince William.
Although she is not a working RoR, Beatrice holds the title of Counsellor of State, making her eligible to fulfill formal duties such as opening the British Parliament in case of King Charles’ absence or illness.
Additionally, Beatrice had a close relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II and even wore one of her vintage Norman Hartnell gowns during her wedding to Eduardo Alessandro Mappelli Mozzi in 2020.
Currently ninth in line to the British throne, Beatrice’s recent childbirth has pushed Eugene down to the 11th position.
As per the recommendations of British think tank Civitas, Charles may consider expanding the number of working RoRs, in which case Beatrice is a likely candidate.
The current roster of 11 working RoRs is expected to decrease to seven in the near future due to the advanced age of Queen Elizabeth II’s elderly cousins.
With Kate and William’s children still years away from assuming working RoR roles, Charles’ reign may face challenges unless he appoints additional working RoRs to fulfill public engagements throughout the UK and the Commonwealth.
The situation remains uncertain as the feuding between Beatrice and Eugene continues, further complicating the dynamics within the RoR family.
