Princess Beatrice, who recently tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, has shared a rare glimpse into her life as a stepmother.
In an interview with Hello Magazine, she candidly discussed her experience and admitted to facing relatable challenges that many parents have encountered over the past year.
When Beatrice married Edoardo, she not only became a wife but also took on the role of stepmother to his young son, Christopher, affectionately known as Wolfie.
Wolfie is Edoardo’s child from a previous relationship with Dara Huang.
Reflecting on her journey as a stepmother, Beatrice acknowledged one particular aspect of parenting that she found difficult.
Beatrice also opened up about her personal struggles with dyslexia and how it impacted her school days.
However, she didn’t let it hinder her from helping others who face similar challenges.
The princess spoke about the impact of coronavirus lockdowns on schools and confessed that homeschooling was not her forte.
Nevertheless, she felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Wolfie during the school closures, acknowledging that it was a significant learning experience for everyone involved.
During the interview, Beatrice, who is currently expecting her first child with Edoardo, was asked if her pregnancy made her consider the future challenges their child might face in school.
In response, she mentioned that her husband is also dyslexic, hinting at the possibility of having similar conversations in the future.
Despite this, Beatrice views dyslexia as a gift and believes that life is defined by the challenges we overcome.
In May, Buckingham Palace announced the joyful news of Beatrice and Edoardo’s impending arrival.
The baby will be the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, following the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, Lilibet, in June.
While it is not anticipated that the newborn will be bestowed with a royal title, thanks to Edoardo’s Italian heritage, the child will hold a unique title as an Italian count.
Eduardo’s father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, explained to the Daily Mail that Edoardo is the sole male descendant carrying the family legacy into the next generation.
As a count, Edoardo’s wife will automatically become a countess, and their children will inherit titles of counts or nobile donna.
