It is said that Princess Beatrice will be taking on additional responsibilities to manage the royal workload, as both the Princess of Wales and King Charles have had to step back due to their health issues.
On Wednesday, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace announced that Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery in London, while the King is scheduled for an enlarged prostate operation next week.
Consequently, both royals had to clear their schedules.
Although the King is expected to continue working from the hospital, the Princess of Wales is unlikely to return to her royal duties until after Easter.
In response to these unexpected developments, emergency meetings have been taking place within the palace to address the royal crisis.
According to OK magazine, Princess Beatrice has been asked to be available during this time.
Her official role as councillor of state will now see her taking on a more senior position.
As per the law, every monarch appoints councillors of state to represent them or fulfill their duties in case of illness or absence abroad.
The current councillors of state include the monarch’s spouse and the next four individuals in the line of succession who are over the age of 21.
These individuals are Queen Camilla, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, and Princess Beatrice.
Additionally, Charles has proposed that his siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, be named as additional councillors of state in late 2022.
However, it is important to note that only working members of the royal family can act as councillors of state, which excludes Harry and Andrew.
According to the source, Beatrice has been instructed to be available over the next few months to attend any necessary engagements.
This is an official role that she will undertake, rather than a last-minute solution to fill a gap.
Princess Beatrice’s dedication to her duties is commendable, and her stepping up during this time of crisis highlights her commitment to the monarchy.
