Princess Charlotte took charge during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, as she expertly guided her older brother, Prince George, on royal protocol.
As they stood at Wellington Arch, waiting for the late Queen’s coffin to pass by, the 7-year-old princess was seen instructing her 9-year-old brother on what to do when the moment arrived.
In a brief video capturing the interaction, Charlotte can be heard telling George, “You need to bow,” while he attentively listened.
This is not the first time Princess Charlotte has been observed correcting her siblings’ royal behavior.
During their carriage debut at Trooping the Colour in June, the three siblings were seated together in the first carriage of the procession.
In a humorous moment, Charlotte and her younger brother, Prince Louis, were enthusiastically waving to the crowd until Charlotte decided to take a break.
However, Prince Louis continued waving until his sister intervened by gently placing his hand on his lap.
Undeterred, Prince Louis resumed his wave shortly after.
During the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for the late monarch, Princess Charlotte once again offered guidance to Prince George.
As the national anthem, “God Save the Queen,” played, George was seen resting his hand on the balcony ledge.
Charlotte promptly nudged her brother’s arm, reminding him to fix his posture.
Responding swiftly, George stood up straight and positioned his arms by his side.
In addition to her role in guiding her siblings, Princess Charlotte made significant fashion choices during the funeral ceremonies.
She wore her first notable piece of jewelry, a diamond horseshoe brooch, pinned to the left side of her black coat as a tribute to her late great-grandmother’s passion for horses.
The sentimental brooch was a gift from Queen Elizabeth herself, as exclusively revealed by people.
Furthermore, Charlotte adorned a hat for the first time, following the British tradition for formal events.
It is worth noting that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are considerably younger than their father, Prince William, when he attended his mother Princess Diana’s funeral at the age of 15 in 1997.
As for Prince Louis, being only four years old, he was likely deemed too young to join the rest of the family for Monday’s funeral.
Princess Charlotte’s poised and confident demeanor, along with her attention to detail, showcases her understanding of royal customs and responsibilities.
Her actions during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral demonstrate her growing maturity and readiness to fulfill her future role within the British monarchy.
