In a recent glitzy event, Princess Kate and Prince William, the Prince and Princess of Wales, attended the Royal Variety performance.
The couple was seen bursting out laughing during the show, particularly at comedian Bradley Walsh’s jokes.
The recorded performance took place on November 30, but was only aired on TV last Sunday.
During his opening act, Walsh made a joke at Princess Kate’s expense, jokingly mentioning his disappointment at not receiving an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) or an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire).
Addressing Prince William directly, Walsh humorously stated, “I have worked for your great nan, your nan, your grandad, your dad, and now I’m working for your sir and madam.
And I must say, ask me if I’ve got an MBE.
Nah, ain’t got one.
Ask me if I’ve got an OBE, nah, ain’t got one of them.
Ask me if I’ve got a CBE, no.”
He playfully added that the honours were probably all given to people who row boats.
Walsh continued to entertain the audience with an anecdote about meeting his two-year-old grandson.
He promised the young boy that he would ask the Prince of Wales for a knighthood, so that his grandson could proudly present his grandfather’s title during a nursery show-and-tell session.
This lighthearted story further amused the crowd.
At the beginning of the show, Walsh greeted the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the camera captured their laughter.
Walsh pretended to stumble over the word “Highnesses,” jokingly remarking that it didn’t sound right.
He playfully suggested alternative pronunciations, comparing it to the plural forms of words like “cactus” and “cacti.”
Eventually, he settled on the term “Your Royal Hiney,” which elicited further laughter from the royal couple.
The footage of Prince William and Princess Kate laughing at the slightly awkward joke has garnered attention and amusement from viewers.
It comes just two days after the release of Omid Scobie’s controversial book, “Endgame,” which has sparked discussions about the British monarchy.
However, during the Royal Variety performance, the couple seemed to enjoy a light-hearted moment amidst the ongoing media scrutiny.
