Princess Kate embraced a new experience as she delved into army life during her visit to the Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG) today.
The royal, exuding elegance, donned an all-black ensemble consisting of a blazer, turtleneck jumper, and trousers.
Her long brown hair cascaded down with a side parting, completing her chic look.
However, Kate swiftly transitioned from her formal attire to a military camo uniform as she actively participated in her royal visit.
She fearlessly took the wheel of an armored vehicle, immersing herself in the operational aspects of the regiment.
Senior officers provided her with a comprehensive briefing on the QDG, allowing her to gain insight into the day-to-day activities of the officers.
During her visit, Kate familiarized herself with the Jackal 2 high-mobility weapons platform.
She observed the team’s effective communication through radios during deployments and witnessed their utilization of reconnaissance drones.
Captivating images captured Kate’s involvement in controlling one of the drones, showcasing her willingness to engage with the regiment’s operations.
As the Colonel-in-Chief of the QDG, a position bestowed upon her by King Charles last August, Kate will bestow long-service and good conduct medals upon several servicemen and women during her visit to Swanton Morley today.
The QDG boasts a rich history spanning over three centuries, specializing in reconnaissance, the art of identifying and understanding enemy tactics.
Throughout their existence, the QDG has traversed the globe, most recently undertaking a peacekeeping mission in Mali from June 2021 to June 2022 in support of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission.
As her visit draws to a close, Kate will engage with the families of QDG personnel, lending an empathetic ear to their experiences and learning about the regiment’s welfare support initiatives.
With Remembrance Sunday on the horizon, Kate will join the personnel in a moment of reflection for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in recent years while serving their country.
Additionally, she will have the privilege of promoting the regimental mascot, Trooper Longface Emerys Jones, a Bay Welsh Mountain Pony, from Lance Corporal to Corporal.
