The Trooping the Colour ceremony for the King’s birthday took place today, and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, made a heartfelt tribute to her late mother-in-law.
Kate, 41, looked elegant in a stunning bright green satin dress and matching hat as she arrived at the Horse Guards Parade with Queen Camilla and her three children.
Her husband, the Prince of Wales, was also present on horseback alongside King Charles.
As they made their way down the mall in a carriage, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, behaved impeccably, waving and smiling at the onlookers.
It was a touching moment when Kate paid homage to Princess Diana by wearing a pair of sapphire drop earrings that once belonged to her late mother-in-law.
This year’s Trooping the Colour event holds special significance as it is the first one following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last September and King Charles’ inaugural birthday parade.
Kate, who took over her husband’s role as Colonel of the Irish Guards at the end of last year, opted for a bold single-color look, donning green from head to toe.
This choice symbolized her position and duties within the Irish Guards.
To further emphasize her Irish role, Kate wore a gold brooch in the shape of a clover.
Completing her ensemble, the Royal styled her chestnut locks in a low bun, neatly tucked beneath the brim of her hat.
The three children were also seen arriving at the event together, eagerly waving at the adoring Royal fans.
Later in the day, Kate joined her husband, Prince Charles, and their children, George, Louis, and Charlotte, along with King Charles and Queen Camilla, on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a military flypast.
Approximately 70 aircraft from the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force participated in the spectacular display.
In addition to Kate and her family, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, appeared on the balcony accompanied by her husband, Prince Edward, Princess Anne, and her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence.
On Saturday, Charles will be joined by the Queen and other members of the Royal Family to witness the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards trooping their color.
Trooping the Colour has been a significant annual event for over 260 years, marking the official birthday of the Sovereign.
However, this year’s coronation flypast in May had to be canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
