Princess Kate, also known as the Princess of Wales, experienced a heartwarming reunion with her former school teacher, Jim Embury, during her visit to the charming harbour town of Falmouth.
The princess surprised Mr. Embury with a spontaneous and affectionate hug, expressing her gratitude for the valuable lessons he had imparted to her.
She revealed that she now passes on these teachings to her own children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Arriving in Cornwall via helicopter, Kate and her husband, Prince William, embarked on their first official joint visit to the region as the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.
One of their key engagements was a visit to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, where Kate had the opportunity to catch up with Mr. Embury, who now volunteers at the museum.
After a warm embrace, Kate expressed her appreciation, saying, “The things you taught me, I now teach to my children.”
Mr. Embury, a history teacher who had taught Kate during her time at prep school, spoke highly of her as a student, describing her as “fantastic” and reminiscing about their time together in class.
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall, located in Discovery Quay, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
With its 15 galleries, boat building workshop, and interactive exhibits, the museum has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
Visitors have the opportunity to learn about Cornwall’s rich maritime heritage, a topic that particularly interested Kate and William.
During their visit, the royal couple joined the museum’s workshop, where they met local individuals involved in refurbishing a 14-foot sailing dinghy called Kiwi.
This boat holds a special significance for the royal family, as it was presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip as a wedding gift from the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Before their museum visit, Kate and William engaged in a walkabout, greeting officials and members of the public.
Among the crowd was Melissa, a devoted fan who endured the cold temperatures for over an hour to have a brief conversation with the Duchess.
The royals graciously shook hands and exchanged a few words with the enthusiastic well-wisher.
For her visit to Cornwall, Kate opted for a knee-length brown coat by Hobbs, which she had previously worn in 2012.
