James Middleton, the brother of Princess Kate, recently made headlines when he lost his beloved dog, Ella.
Now, he has shared that his older sister attended an emotional ceremony for his faithful companion.
Opening up about the profound impact Ella had on his battle with depression and suicidal thoughts, James revealed that they spent 15 years together and even became ambassadors for the Pets as Therapy Charity.
In an interview with The Times, the 35-year-old businessman expressed the pain of burying Ella, saying, “That was the worst.
It took me four hours because I knew once I had finished digging, that would be the final farewell.
All the family came to say their goodbyes.”
Reflecting on Ella’s influence, he added, “I can’t speak for them, but I believe she influenced their lives too.”
Interestingly, Lupo, the dog belonging to Catherine and William, is one of Ella’s puppies, and other family members also have dogs from Ella’s lineage.
It is likely that Ella’s burial took place at James’ home in Berkshire, where he resides with his wife Alice Thevenet on a sprawling country estate.
The couple also shares their lives with dogs named Zulu, Inca, Luna, Mabel, and Nola.
James took a moment to express his gratitude for his sisters, Pippa and Kate, who have been there for him during difficult times.
“They were at my side during the hardest of times as well,” he said.
“For that, I am forever grateful.”
Last Friday, James received an outpouring of support from friends and fans after sharing the sad news of Ella’s passing.
Alongside a beautiful black and white portrait of his pup, he wrote, “It is with great sadness that I announce my dear Ella has passed away.
For 15 years, Ella has been at my side, from my darkest days to my happiest.
I’m going to miss her terribly.”
James revealed that Ella had a short illness and peacefully slipped away in his arms at home, where she now rests in the garden alongside another beloved pet named Tilly.
He shared a picture taken just hours before her passing.
