The Ministry of Defence has come under fire for creating confusion by announcing Princess Kate’s attendance at Trooping the Colour without prior consultation with Kensington Palace.
While the Army’s website detailed the confirmation of her appearance, the Palace is yet to officially verify if the Princess of Wales will be present alongside the troops on June 8th for the review.
Sources cited by The Telegraph revealed that the Palace intends to disclose its plans only once a final decision has been reached.
It has been reported that the MoD proceeded to publish the event details on its website without reaching out to Kensington Palace beforehand, leading to the current uncertainty surrounding Princess Kate’s participation.
Should Princess Kate indeed attend Trooping the Colour, it will mark one of her initial public engagements this year, subsequent to undergoing stomach surgery in January.
Her recovery has been ongoing for several weeks, and she was recently spotted on a school run alongside her mother, Carol Middleton, just this Monday.
Officials have consistently affirmed that Princess Kate will not resume her official duties as a senior royal until after the Easter period.
Kensington Palace has provided an update stating that although she is progressing well in her recovery, they will adhere to their policy of issuing substantial announcements only.
A spokesperson reiterated the Palace’s stance on health updates concerning the Princess.
The timing of the Palace’s confirmation or denial regarding Princess Kate’s attendance at the event remains uncertain, dependent on her return to royal responsibilities.
Notably, the Trooping the Colour event description on the website specifies that it will be reviewed by Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales, akin to a review by His Majesty the King, with the addition of mounted officers if His Majesty is present.
