Princess Lilibet, the daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, has reportedly been christened in a private ceremony held in California.
However, questions have arisen about the authenticity of this news, as the couple has been known to create stories to attract attention.
Nevertheless, the christening of Princess Lilibet Diana is being celebrated by many.
Exclusive information obtained by People confirms that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held a private service last Friday at their residence in Montecito, California, where their 21-month-old daughter was christened.
The baptism was conducted by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles Bishop, the Rev.
John Taylor, according to a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry.
It has been reported that invitations were extended to Kate Middleton, Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla, but they declined to attend the ceremony.
The titles of Prince and Princess were bestowed upon Archie, aged 3, and Lilibet, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth last September, in accordance with guidelines established by King George V in 1917.
According to People, the palace will update the titles of Master Archie Mountbatten Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten Windsor on its website to reflect their new statuses.
A representative for Meghan and Harry stated that the issue of the children’s titles had been resolved in consultation with Buckingham Palace.
The intimate gathering on Friday reportedly had between 20 and 30 attendees, including Tyler Perry, Doria Ragland (Meghan’s mother), Meghan, and an unidentified godmother.
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed food and dancing, with Archie even dancing with his younger sister.
Tyler Perry, who is Lilibet’s godfather, was seen arriving in Montecito prior to the christening.
He had traveled from his home in Atlanta and brought along a gospel choir of 10 singers who performed songs such as “Oh Happy Day” and “This Little Light of Mine,” which were also played at Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
In an exclusive interview with People in January, Prince Harry expressed his desire for his children to have a meaningful relationship with the royal family.
He stated, “I wanted a family, not an institution, so it goes without saying that I would love nothing more than for our children to get along with members of my family.
They do, and this makes me very happy.”
In his book, “Spare,” Harry also shared a unique encounter his children had with their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, before her passing.
He imagined Archie bowing respectfully while Lilibet, his infant sister, stroked the monarch’s shins.
Queen Elizabeth, seemingly perplexed, responded, “Children are the sweetest.”
She had expected them to be more “American,” implying that Harry was rowdier.
Tyler Perry revealed in December that he had been chosen as Lilibet’s godfather.
Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021, in Santa Barbara, California.
Perry recalled that when Harry and Meghan called to ask him to be the godfather, they sounded serious, unlike their usual conversations.
He considered it an honor and gladly accepted the role, even offering his California house to the couple when they left the UK in 2020.
The christening of Princess Lilibet Diana marks another significant milestone for Meghan and Harry’s family.
As they continue to navigate their new lives away from the royal institution, they strive to maintain a meaningful connection with their extended family and create cherished memories for their children.
