In a shocking revelation, Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame, has alleged that Princess Michael of Kent made racially insensitive remarks about Meghan Markle.
Scobie, a prominent supporter of Prince Harry and Meghan, claimed that during a meeting in March 2021 at a Kensington Palace apartment, the 78-year-old royal couldn’t resist indulging in gossip about Meghan.
According to Scobie, Princess Michael, wife of the late Queen’s first cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, expressed her disapproval of Prince Harry’s wife, stating, “Meghan’s made it all about race because that’s all everyone does these days.”
This comment is said to have been made in the aftermath of the Sussexes’ bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
Princess Michael of Kent has faced criticism in the past for her choice of jewelry.
At the Queen’s Christmas lunch in 2017, she wore a controversial Blackamore brooch, which some commentators deemed racist.
The incident occurred during Meghan’s first attendance at the event.
Princess Michael publicly apologized at the time, expressing regret for any offense caused.
The book also claims that there were two members of the royal household who expressed concerns over Archie’s skin color.
Meghan Markle first revealed this allegation during her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year.
She disclosed that while she was pregnant, there were conversations within the family about how dark Archie’s skin might be.
Lady Colin Campbell, a royal commentator, criticized Scobie’s claims, questioning their accuracy.
She pointed out that Harry and Meghan had previously contradicted each other regarding the timing and details of the alleged concern about Archie’s skin color.
Campbell suggested that the couple may be more focused on generating publicity rather than presenting facts.
Scobie’s book also includes a claim that King Charles once referred to his son, Prince Harry, as “that fool.”
Lady Colin Campbell responded to this revelation, stating that the king could have used far harsher language.
She argued that calling Harry a fool was a relatively mild insult compared to what could have been said, such as “traitor” or “disloyal.”
Campbell concluded by acknowledging that amidst all the excerpts from the book, the claim about King Charles calling Harry a fool is one of the few that she finds credible.
These allegations have once again thrust the issue of racism within the royal family into the spotlight.
As the fallout from Scobie’s book continues, it remains to be seen how the palace and other members of the royal family will respond to these serious claims.
