In a stunning display of elegance, the Princess of Wales, Catherine, graced the Buckingham Palace reception in a shimmering gold Jenny Packham gown and Diana’s Cambridge lovers knot tiara.
Accompanied by King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince of Wales, Catherine stole the spotlight in a rose gold Jenny Packham Georgia gown, valued at approximately £5,000, adorned with sequins.
Enhancing her regal ensemble, the princess wore the Dane Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order sash.
To add to the allure, Princess Catherine donned the iconic Cambridge lovers knot tiara, which once belonged to Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana.
Completing her dazzling outfit for the evening’s event in London, she adorned herself with Her Late Majesty’s stunning Greville diamond chandelier earrings.
The royal mother-of-three opted for a glamorous makeup look, featuring a smoky eye shadow, while her glossy brunette tresses were elegantly held in place by the lovers knot tiara.
The lovers knot tiara, known for its weightiness that caused headaches for Kate’s mother-in-law, was securely kept in a safe at Buckingham Palace following Princess Diana’s untimely passing in 1997.
It was later bestowed upon William’s wife.
Crafted by royal jewellers Gerard in 1914, the tiara was designed personally by Queen Mary, utilizing pearls and diamonds already in her family’s possession.
The name “lovers knot” derives from the bows that gracefully adorn the band, tied intricately in a knot symbolizing unbreakable bonds of love.
Princess Catherine first showcased this exquisite piece in December 2015 during the annual diplomatic reception held at Buckingham Palace.
Earlier in the day, the royal couple engaged in various public appearances.
Prince William surprised shoppers when he was spotted selling copies of The Big Issue at a Tesco store in Hammersmith, West London.
During this unexpected encounter, the prince reunited with magazine seller Dave, with whom he had previously crossed paths and even exchanged Christmas cards.
Meanwhile, Princess Catherine met with a young girl whose space-themed designs for a new Children’s Day surgery unit were inspired by her late father.
Ella Moth, aged 9, won a competition to create artwork for the new unit at the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London.
Her father, Piers, tragically passed away from brain cancer in 2021.
The newly constructed facility, costing £55 million, aims to provide comprehensive treatment for children in one location, reducing the stress associated with multiple hospital visits.
Gabi Adida, the chief executive of Evelina Children’s Hospital, expressed gratitude for the princess’s visit, noting that it brought a sense of positivity to every room and uplifted the staff during these challenging times for the National Health Service (NHS), where backlogs and pressures have been mounting.
