At Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla held a meeting with Reverend Michael Parker, the commander-in-chief of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.
The Army Chaplain’s Department, established in 1796, is renowned for its unwavering commitment to providing comfort, care, and compassion to British troops.
Since 1945, chaplains have been deployed alongside the British Army, offering pastoral care, spiritual support, and moral guidance not only to soldiers and their families but also to civilians in need.
Canon Parker expressed his gratitude on behalf of all army chaplains, warmly welcoming Queen Camilla as the patron of Army Chaplaincy.
He emphasized that the essence of being a chaplain lies in selfless service to others and eagerly anticipates Her Majesty’s support in caring for those who dedicate themselves to caring for others.
For 227 years, chaplains have faithfully served both soldier and monarch.
Some are honored with appointments as honorary chaplains to the King, while all cherish their commission as chaplains to His Majesty’s Land Forces.
Canon Parker further highlighted the significance of the Royal Family’s support in fulfilling their duties, stating that caring for the Army’s personnel represents the latest manifestation of their service.
He acknowledged the immense value that chaplains place on the backing of the Royal Family as they carry out their vital responsibilities.
