Friends of Queen Camilla have disclosed a peculiar nickname they gave her, which drew attention to her journey into the royal family.
Welcome to Royal Pancakes, where we bring you the latest news about the British monarchy.
Although Queen Camilla’s nickname may have angered King Charles, her friends claim that she always found it amusing, even if the then Prince Charles did not share the sentiment.
According to Robert Hardman’s latest royal book, “Charles III, New King, New Court,” Queen Camilla’s friends affectionately called her Lorraine, inspired by the French word for Queen, La Reine.
This revelation sheds light on her early days before the possibility of becoming Queen was even considered.
Even now, Queen Camilla finds it challenging to adjust to her new status.
Her sister, Annabelle Elliot, shared her difficulty in curtsying and addressing her as “your majesty.”
She said, “I find it very hard to curtsy to her and call her your majesty.
That I can’t do.”
Despite this, Queen Camilla’s importance is recognized within royal circles.
She is the only one who knows how to calm the king when he becomes upset or frustrated.
Mr. Hardman further explained, “Now, people are worried about upsetting the king.
They know he can get very cross about quite minor things, and they have yet to find out how he will react in certain situations.
At the same time, they know that Queen Camilla is a strong voice of reason in that regard.”
Lord Chartreux, an old university friend of the king, added, “That’s one of the reasons why Queen Camilla is so marvelous.
She can express her opinions firmly, allowing him to relax.
When things go wrong and you have to keep being nice, you need someone close who can talk you down.”
During a visit to Balmoral, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak found the queen’s sense of humor so entertaining that he feared breaking royal protocol.
He said, “She’s uproariously funny, and it was challenging to keep the volume down during dinner because we were having such a good time.”
Even Princess Ann, known for her no-nonsense attitude, praises her sister-in-law, despite the unconventional path she took to enter the royal family.
The Princess Royal explained, “For Queen Camilla, it has been much more challenging in every way, partly due to not having had the same level of preparation.
And there is no doubt that made a difference for him throughout the process.
I’m sure many people tell her how much of a difference she has made, and that is genuinely true.
I have known her on and off for a long time, and I think she has been incredibly generous and understanding.”
Camilla’s sister, Annabel Elliot, an interior designer and antiques dealer, emphasized her loyalty and stability, stating, “She is Charles’s rock, and I cannot emphasize that enough.
She remains completely loyal and is not someone who experiences extreme highs and lows.
They are like any couple who have been together for a long time, with lots of jokes and squabbles.
They are the yin and yang, complete opposites, but it works brilliantly.
And humor plays a significant role.
Essentially, she makes him laugh.”
