Prince William has received support from numerous individuals while his wife, Princess Kate, underwent abdominal surgery at a London clinic.
However, one question remained unanswered: why weren’t Kate’s parents, Carol and Michael Middleton, seen visiting her during her hospital stay?
Now, a royal expert has shed light on the situation.
After a 13-day stay, Princess Kate was discharged from the London clinic on Monday, January 29.
The surgery had been planned earlier in the month, and a statement released on January 17 indicated that she was expected to remain in the hospital for up to two weeks.
Throughout this period, Prince William remained by her side, but he was only publicly photographed once.
On Vanessa Feltz’s segment on Talk TV, Royal editor Sarah Hewson addressed the issue of Kate’s parents’ absence.
When asked if Carol and Michael Middleton had visited their daughter, Hewson responded, “We haven’t seen them, but we saw William on the first day and then we didn’t see him again.
Now, there are multiple entrances where they are able to slip in and out, but we do know Carol and Michael Middleton were on hand, particularly to help out with the children while William visited his wife.”
Hewson further commented on the Middleton family, stating, “They’re a tight-knit family, and they, along with close friends, have been rallying around and will continue to do so because it’s going to be a long time before Kate is really back up on her feet.
It’s major surgery that she’s been through, and we’re not going to see her out on royal duties until April, so more than two months.”
In addition to Kate’s strong bond with her parents, Prince William also has a close relationship with his in-laws.
Royal expert Rachel Andrew previously revealed that William looks up to Kate’s parents and finds solace in confiding in them.
Carol, in particular, shares a special connection with her three eldest grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
During an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, Carol expressed her joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
She shared, “I want to run down the hills, climb the trees, and go through the tunnel at the playground.
As long as I am able to, that’s what I’ll be doing.
I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.”
While it remains unclear why Carol and Michael Middleton were not seen visiting their daughter during her hospital stay, it is evident that they played a significant role in supporting Prince William and caring for their grandchildren.
As Kate continues her recovery from major surgery, her family and close friends will continue to offer their assistance and support.
