In a recent Instagram post, Rob McElhinney, the creator of the hit TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” shared an exciting photo featuring himself, Glenn Howerton, and none other than Prince Harry.
The picture was taken during a soccer match between Inter Miami CF and Los Angeles at FCBMO Stadium in Los Angeles back in September.
The photo captured Prince Harry wearing a stylish black shirt and matching blazer, striking a pose alongside McElhinney and Howerton.
In the caption, McElhinney expressed his gratitude to the people and places that made 2023 one of the best years of his life.
He also hinted at his anticipation for 2024 while humorously mentioning that he would stay away from the nuts.
But that’s not all – McElhinney’s Instagram slideshow had more surprises in store.
Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns the Wrexham soccer team with McElhinney, also made an appearance.
The slideshow even featured a cameo from Prince Harry’s father, King Charles, and his wife, Queen Camilla.
It turns out that the monarchs filmed an episode for the second season of the sports documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” alongside McElhinney and Reynolds.
The FX series released a trailer where Reynolds jokingly mentioned their experience at monarchy boot camp, comparing it to military training with the exception that their pinky fingers were always raised.
In the September episode, Reynolds and McElhinney took King Charles and Queen Camilla on a tour of the racecourse ground, which is reportedly the oldest soccer facility in the world.
The show’s Instagram account revealed that the co-owners received a crash course in royal etiquette, learning how to walk, shake hands, and sit properly in the presence of royalty.
The duo’s etiquette coach emphasized the importance of making a good first impression, stating, “Everything starts with a first impression.”
Many commenters on McElhinney’s Instagram post couldn’t help but joke about his multiple encounters with the royal family over the past year.
One user praised the iconic photo of Prince Harry, while another playfully asked if McElhinney attempted to fist bump the Queen.
Some commenters expressed their opinions on Prince Harry, with one remarking that he seemed to be losing his charm, and another suggesting that his smile was due to not having Mark Hall around.
However, the real story lies in the meeting between King Charles, Queen Camilla, Ryan Reynolds, and Rob McElhinney.
As co-owners of the Wrexham soccer team, Reynolds and McElhinney deemed it crucial to make a positive impression on the King and Queen.
According to their social media accounts, they even hired an etiquette consultant to guide them through the visit.
The King and Queen’s presence in Wrexham had significant economic benefits for the community.
The Wrexham stadium saw an addition of 5,500 seats, allowing for larger events and boosting the local economy.
Reynolds highlighted that having the King visit Wrexham was a way to elevate the community and attract important funding for the stadium.
