In light of the King’s decision to postpone royal commitments until the upcoming UK elections, the Prince of Wales has issued an apology.
Regrettably, the Prince of Wales will not be able to attend the engagement originally scheduled for May 23, 2024.
“We express our sincere apologies to those who have already made travel arrangements and eagerly anticipate rescheduling in the near future,” Kensington Palace conveyed in a statement to Hello!
Magazine.
Following the announcement of the election date by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Buckingham Palace relayed the monarch’s directive to suspend all further royal engagements, leading to this announcement.
With the elections slated for July 4, there will be a pause in significant royal activities in June, including events like trooping the Colour and the state visit of King and Queen Camilla to Japan.
Despite battling cancer for some time, the King’s planned trip to France for the D-Day commemorations on June 6 will proceed as planned.
During his time in the country, the Prince of Wales will participate in various events alongside his father and stepmother, Queen Camilla.
This decision comes in the wake of recent news about the Prince of Wales and the Princess of Wales’ joint early years initiative, which was made public just earlier this week.
